Our Why

In the performing arts industry, it’s so easy to feel like we’re going through experiences and feelings alone. When the reality is we’re all going through this together! So when I set out to create The Bradshaw Effect, I wanted a place for artists to hear that they’re not alone and in fact their experiences are validated because they’re able to hear all the other people who have walked the same path as them.

About the

Host

Originally from Lexington Kentucky, I moved to New York City with a passion to create meaningful connection throughout my work. As a performer, writer, and creator, I’m driven by the belief that connection is a fundamental aspect of the human experience. Through telling stories that we are passionate about, we can inspire, empathize, and create a more compassionate, vibrant, and brave world.
I fell in love with Sex and the City the moment I was young and snuck to watch it in the family room on HBO. I remember seeing the most incredible fashion, lifestyles, and personalities of the characters on the screen. As I grew, I became fascinated with the idea of being our own main characters of our stories. “Hell, if Carrie Bradshaw can do it, why can’t I?” I thought. But the “Bradshaw Effect” of it all, really came to me when I stepped out of the cab and looked at my apartment for the first time, starting my NYC chapter. In the theatre industry, I think it’s easy for us to focus on the “afters” of people’s journeys. Of course, celebrating success is essential, but what about the “befores” of people’s journeys? This is what I wanted to create with The Bradshaw Effect, a place to feel like Carrie Bradshaw, and look at our life as the main characters of our stories, and celebrate the triumphs, examine the hardships, but most importantly remind ourselves we’re not alone on this journey.

Carrie Bradshaw

What Stephanie J Block and Marylee Fairbanks have created with their podcast is truly something special. Each episode feels like having coffee with a friend you haven’t seen in a while and you’re catching up. The energy and environment they create for their guests and listeners is unlike anything I’ve experienced. Go listen to them!

The humor of these two women is unparalleled… I DREAM of being this quick and funny. Not only are they incredible people and inspire me as a podcast host, but they are living examples of being your own main character!

I had to put Carrie on here! Sure she’s flawed, but isn’t that what makes her the poster child for Main character energy? Not only does Carrie go through the world with confidence in herself and what she has to offer, but she looks great doing it too!
